Sacred Vrat Katha (Full Narrative)
Lord Krishna narrated the profound glory of Devshayani (Harishayani) Ekadashi to King Yudhishthira. From this sacred day, Lord Vishnu enters four months of cosmic slumber (Yoga Nidra) upon Sheshanaga in the milky ocean, marking the commencement of auspicious Chaturmas.
During the reign of righteous King Mandhata, a severe three-year drought devastated the realm. Guided by Sage Angira, the King and his subjects observed the Devshayani Ekadashi fast with pure devotion. Pleased by their penance, Lord Vishnu showered torrential rains, revitalizing the kingdom with endless prosperity and spiritual liberation.
