Sacred Vrat Katha (Full Narrative)
According to legend, King Hima's son was fated to die of snakebite on the fourth day of his marriage. On that critical night, his devoted bride laid out mounds of gold, silver, and sparkling ornaments at the threshold, lighting countless lamps. She sang celestial hymns through the night.
When Yama arrived in the guise of a serpent, the radiant glitter of jewels and lamps blinded his eyes. Captivated by the queen's devotional songs, the serpent lingered harmlessly until dawn, when the deadly astrological hour passed safely. Furthermore, on this sacred day, Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the cosmic churning carrying the vessel of Amrita, followed by Mata Lakshmi on Diwali.
