📖 Sacred Vrat Katha (Full Narrative)

A stingy wealthy merchant's wife refused to practice charity. When Lord Brihaspati arrived disguised as an ascetic seeking alms, she stubbornly sought ways to be rid of her wealth so she wouldn't have to give alms. The ascetic gave advice that inverted all auspicious principles. Following this, their fortunes vanished within seven weeks.

Penitent and sorrowful upon tasting extreme poverty, she beseeched Lord Brihaspati for forgiveness. The Lord revealed the authentic Thursday fast, worship of the holy Banana tree with chana dal, jaggery, and yellow attire. Upon devoted practice, divine abundance and spiritual grace were fully restored.
