Sacred Vrat Katha (Full Narrative)
An elderly mother favored her six earning sons and neglected the youngest, feeding him leftovers. Realizing this, the youngest departed for foreign lands to seek his fortune, leaving his devoted wife behind. In his absence, the sisters-in-law tormented her with harsh labor.
One day, while fetching firewood, the wife witnessed village women observing the Santoshi Mata Vrata with Gur-Chana. Learning the vow strictly prohibited all sour edibles, she began fasting with unwavering devotion. Mata Santoshi showered blessings: her husband established a flourishing business and returned home laden with riches.
During the 16th Friday Udhyapan, spiteful relatives coaxed the young boys to eat sour tamarind, invoking the goddess's wrath and causing the king to arrest her husband. Devastated, the wife prayed for forgiveness and renewed her vow with pure purity. Mata Santoshi was appeased, her husband was restored with royal honors, and a noble son was born. Glory to Mata Santoshi!
