Sacred Vrat Katha (Full Narrative)
Devout Vrinda was married to demon king Jalandhar, whose invincibility stemmed from Vrinda's unyielding chastity. When Jalandhar terrorized the heavens, Lord Vishnu assumed Jalandhar's guise to protect cosmic order, breaking the mystic shield and enabling Shiva to vanquish the tyrant.
Heartbroken upon discovering the truth, Vrinda immolated herself, cursing Vishnu to turn into black stone (Shaligram). Filled with reverence for her purity, Lord Vishnu declared that Vrinda would regenerate as the sacred Basil (Tulsi), proclaiming that He would forever wed her each Kartika month as Shaligram, granting eternal liberation to all who celebrate their union.
