📖 1. Anant Chaturdashi 2027 Date, Vedic Panchang & Tithi Timings
Anant Chaturdashi (અનંત ચતુર્દશી / अनंत चतुर्दशी / Anant Chaudas) is one of the most auspicious, spiritually grand celebrations in Sanatan Dharma, marking both the profound adoration of Lord Vishnu in His infinite cosmic form (Bhagwan Anant Padmanabha) and the climactic grand finale of the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival with Maha Ganesh Visarjan.
In 2027, Anant Chaturdashi will be observed on Wednesday, 15 September 2027 (*Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturdashi / ભાદરવા સુદ ચૌદશ*). According to high-precision Drik Siddhanta planetary computations, Chaturdashi Tithi commences on Wednesday, 15 September 2027 at 02:50 AM IST and concludes on Thursday, 16 September 2027 at 04:36 AM IST. Because the holy Chaturdashi tithi prevails throughout the day and night across all Vedic criteria (Udaya Tithi, Sangava Kaal, and Madhyahna Kaal), Wednesday, 15 September 2027 is the universally unified date for Anant Padmanabha Puja, tying the sacred Anant Sutra, and performing Ganesh Visarjan.
📖 2. The Dual Divine Significance: Bhagwan Ananta & Ganesh Visarjan
Anant Chaturdashi carries two sublime spiritual currents that converge on this single holy day:
- The Worship of Bhagwan Anant Padmanabha: "Ananta" literally signifies the boundless, eternal, infinite Divine that exists beyond time and space. On this day, Lord Vishnu is worshiped reclining on the multi-headed serpent king Sheshanaga upon the celestial Milk Ocean (*Ksheerasagara*). Observing this fast dissolves deep-rooted karmic sorrows, dispels financial ruin, and confers lasting peace, prosperity, and liberation (*Moksha*).
- Maha Ganesh Visarjan (મહા ગણેશ વિસર્જન): This day marks the grand culmination of the 10-day Ganeshotsav that commenced on Ganesh Chaturthi. Devotees escort their beloved Gajanana with drumbeats, gulal, and emotional chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya", immersing the clay idols into holy waters. This ritual beautifully mirrors the supreme Vedantic truth: physical form (*Saguna Sakar*) peacefully dissolves back into formless cosmic omnipresence (*Nirguna Nirakar*).

📖 4. The Mystery of the 14-Knot Sacred Anant Sutra (અનંત દોરો)
A sacred centerpiece of this festival is the sanctification of the Anant Sutra (અનંત રક્ષા સૂત્ર). A cotton or silk thread is colored golden-yellow using turmeric (*Haldi*), saffron, and kumkum, and tied with 14 sacred knots (*Chaudah Gaanth*).
In Vedic cosmology, each of the 14 knots represents one of the fourteen cosmic dimensions (*Chaturdasha Bhuvanani*) created and sustained by Lord Vishnu:
- The 7 Higher Spiritual Realms (Urdhva Lokas): Bhuh (Earth), Bhuvah (Atmosphere), Svah (Heaven), Mahah, Janah, Tapah, and Satyam (Brahmaloka).
- The 7 Lower Subtle Realms (Adho Lokas): Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Talatala, Mahatala, Rasatala, and Patala.
Rules for Wearing: After being consecrated with Panchamrit and offered to Lord Vishnu, men tie the Anant Sutra on their right upper arm or wrist, while women tie it on their left upper arm or wrist. It is worn continuously for one full year as an infallible shield against misfortune, diseases, and planetary afflictions.
📖 5. Sacred 14 Malpuas Naivedya & Ritual Preparation
The culinary and sacrificial offering for Anant Chaturdashi is deeply rooted in tradition:
- 14 Sweet Malpuas (૧૪ માલપુઆનો ભોગ): Devotees prepare exactly fourteen sweet, ghee-fried wheat pancakes known as Malpuas or sweet Puran Poli.
- Division of Prasada: Seven of these Malpuas are offered in charity to pious Brahmins and the underprivileged, while the remaining seven are revered as Maha-prasada and shared among family members.
- Kheer & Panchamrit: Sweet rice kheer cooked with cow milk, dry fruits, saffron, and Panchamrit are placed before the deity.
📖 6. Step-by-Step Anant Padmanabha Puja Vidhi & Mantras
Detailed ritual process for performing the puja at home:
- Altar & Kalash Sthapana: Clean a wooden chowki in the North-East (Ishan) corner. Spread a red or yellow silk cloth. Place a Kalash filled with sacred water, mango leaves, and a coconut.
- Sheshanaga Representation: Create a seven-hooded serpent representation using Kusha grass (*Darbha grass*), clay, or silver, placing it on the altar as Lord Sheshanaga.
- Invoking Bhagwan Ananta: Invoke Lord Vishnu chanting the sacred Shloka: "Ananta Samsara Maha Samudre Magnam Samabhyuddhara Vasudeva | Ananta Rupe Viniyojayasva Hyananta Sutraya Namo Namaste ||"
- Consecrating the Anant Sutra: Place the 14-knot thread on a betel leaf, bathe it symbolically with milk, Gangajal, and Panchamrit, and offer Chandan, Akshat, yellow flowers, and incense.
- Bhog & Vrat Katha: Offer the 14 Malpuas, light camphor for Aarti, and attentively listen to or recite the Anant Vrat Katha.

📖 7. The Inspiring Vrat Katha from Mahabharata & App Download
In the Mahabharata, during the Pandavas' arduous exile in the forest, King Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna: "O Keshava, how can we regain our lost kingdom, overcome deep poverty, and conquer our enemies?" Lord Krishna advised him to observe the sacred Anant Chaturdashi Vrat and narrated the immortal tale of Sage Kaundinya and his devoted wife Sheela.
Sheela, the pious daughter of Sage Sumanta, learned of the Anant Vrat from noble women while traveling. She devoutly tied the 14-knot Anant Sutra on her left arm, which blessed her and Kaundinya with extraordinary wealth, cattle, and joy. However, Kaundinya became intoxicated with pride, questioned the source of their prosperity, and in a fit of arrogance, snatched the sacred thread from Sheela's arm and cast it into the burning fire. Immediately, their cattle perished, thieves looted their house, and they were plunged into utter misery.
Realizing his heinous offense against Lord Vishnu, Kaundinya ran into the wilderness in deep agony, inquiring from mango trees, cows, bulls, and lakes about the whereabouts of Lord Ananta. Touched by his true repentance, Lord Vishnu appeared before him in divine splendor, revealed that the thread represented His cosmic sovereignty, and restored his fortune upon Kaundinya's pledge to observe the fast for 14 consecutive years with pure devotion.
